ii. natural disasters

the aftermath of worry leaves you standing

amidst the rubble of your thoughts

wondering why you ever worried in the first place

slow. down.

God is still God. you are still held. the world still spins like it did before.

do not let your thoughts run away like the wild stallions they are

it will look better in the morning, tomorrow will be brighter than this

my mother told me once

“take your thoughts captive, do not let them own you”

and I am getting better every day; I am worrying less every day

and every time i worry now, i remember

thoughts are just wild things

and i must capture and tame them.

  1. ASDFGHJKL RUBY THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. I cannot even with your writing voice. It is so poetic and beautiful and RAW and I AM FREAKING OUT OVER HERE HELP. I just love this so much… And I NEEDED this. These snapshots you write always fill me with so much happiness and hope and yet there’s a sadness, too, and just oh my goodness… YOUR TALENT. IT IS UNFAIR. πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

  2. I like your thoughts. Have been concerned about our son’s house in North Carolina. We really enjoyed seeing you all at Kristiana’s wedding. Keep writing. Aunt Jean
