About The Author

Hello.

FullSizeRender-3My name is Ruby Sky. I’m an ordinary teenager who lives overseas, and this is where I write what I think about everything and anything and all that goes in between.

I am a Jesus Nomad and I’ve lived in different countries for most of my life. I’ve actually never lived somewhere for more than four years at a time.

I like dancing in the rain (but no where else), singing while washing dishes, dyeing my hair (it’s currently purple), talking theology, drinking chai, teasing my siblings, riding on the motorcycle with my dad, going out to coffee with my mom, wearing leather jackets, using the oxford comma, and reading.

I love reading.

It was reading that first inspired me to become a writer. I wrote a 4 page rip off of the Princess Bride (Inconceivable!) for my first effort at the tender age of eleven. It was horrible, but let’s be honest, what first efforts aren’t?

I didn’t give up, however, and wrote another novel that took a year and a half to finish.

That novel was also horrible.

So I wrote another one, and it was better.

The years have gone by, and I’m still writing novels, short stories, poems, and the lot of it.

So take a look around, and see what you think of the progress I have made.

~Ruby

  1. Hi Rubix,
I just saw that you’ve started following my blog The Island of Me. Your blog is really good and I can’t imagine not living in one place for more than four years!

  2. So awesome, Rubix! You are indeed a gifted writer. More importantly, you are an amazing young woman after God’s own heart. Nothing in this world will ever matter more than that. Knowing and loving your parents as I do, I am not at all surprised by your talent, your love and your knowledge of who you are in Christ! You touch my heart, young lady!

  3. Hi Rubix! 🙂 Nice to “meet” you! I’m amazed at how many points there are in this short intro to you that I can relate to – the reading, writing, talking theology, chatting with mom over drinks (though it’s usually a shake or a mousse), riding on the “moto” (as we call them) with dad, and the not having lived more than four years in the same place. Currently, we’re in Cambodia. And may I ask where you get your nickname from? It doesn’t have to do with the puzzle, does it? Because the Rubik’s Cube was a phase in my life for a few years. 😉

    1. Aw thank you, lovely! 🙂

I’m using the Affinity theme! I think enabling comments varies from theme to theme… I hope that helps you some, sorry I don’t know more!

  6. Hi Ruby! Hope this finds you well.

So I was wondering if I could be so bold as to ask your help. I’ve been editing my novel for a good 9 months in response to a few bad (but honest!) reviews, and I was wondering if you’d be willing to read the revised edition and tell me what you think? It’d mean a lot to me. You could take as long as you wanted.

I would provide you with the novel for free, of course. That being said, should you feel so inclined as to be even more generous, purchasing the novel on Amazon and writing a review publicly (good or bad!) would be so so helpful. But that’s only if you feel so inclined 🙂

If you’re not interested, that’s fine too. Just thought I’d reach out because you’re one of my most loyal followers 🙂

    Thanks,
    Dominic

    1. Hey! 🙂 I don’t believe we’ve met before – but I’m glad you’re here! I’m doing well, just very busy with school and figuring out university plans, I hope to publish something on here again sometime in the future.
